Meet Viry

Viridiana Zendejas

MSW, LCSW

¿Hola, que tal? My name is Viridiana (or Viry), my pronouns are she/her/ella.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed to practice in the states of Arizona and Utah.

I am a first generation Mexican-American, daughter of Mexican immigrants who worked to instill their beautiful family traditions all while encouraging me to create my own path in a society often not accepting of people who look like me.

As an immigrant or the child of immigrant parents, childhood may have come with responsibilities you did not ask for.

Although these expectations provide great skills, they also come with many challenges. Some may look like continuing to feel responsible for your family’s wellbeing, struggles with balancing the family’s expectations of you vs. your actual preferences, feeling like you don’t always belong in spaces you worked so hard to be a part of (ni de aquí, ni de allá), trying to make sense of mixed emotions like feeling grateful for the family’s sacrifices while also feeling angry with what you and/or your family had to go through.

Because of the unique needs in nuestra cultura, I believe working with a professional who understands the importance of honoring the client’s needs while also considering the role of familia is necessary.

Generaciones Counseling is determined to provide a space where you as a Latina/Latino/Latine, regardless of your generation, can discover your own voice, address the unhealthy family cycles, integrate the pieces of your upbringing you appreciate and love, and create your own legacy you will be proud to pass on to your loved ones.
